Having fun in Culpeper doesn’t have to break the bank.  This summer, plan a day trip or weekend away to explore some of the best FREE attractions and events in Culpeper, Virginia. Here are some FREE fun things to check out this summer:

Parks

Spend the day soaking up the sunshine at the splash pad at Rockwater Park. Don’t forget to pack a picnic lunch, snacks, and drinks so the kids can stay and play on the ninja course and playground too.  There are lots of options to order and pick up food too. The splash pad is open daily through early October from 8 am – 8 pm, weather permitting.

These local parks offer a great variety of free playground options for everyone. Lenn ParkThe Bright SpotMountain Run Lake Park, Spilman Park & Yowell Meadow Park.  Brings some snacks and make it a full morning or afternoon in the park.

Movies, Books, and More

Catch a movie at the Packard Campus Theater which offers weekly free movie features throughout the year. A perfect way to spend a hot summer day or rainy afternoon.

Stop into the Culper County Library to check out a new book, movie, or video game and be sure to visit their Facebook page to find out more about their FREE special events too for kids, teens, and adults.

Window Shopping & Photos Downtown

Stroll down the streets of the Downtown District and window shop at the charming boutiques and unique eateries. CulpeperFest 2024 – June 14, 2024

Fun for the entire family! The area’s largest business-to-community event, CulpeperFest, will feature over 120+ local vendors, live music, food trucks, large vehicle displays, giveaways, raffles, live entertainment, children’s activities, health screenings, and so much more! Attendee favorites that will be returning to this year’s event include PHI Air Care’s Helicopter on site, Earthquest’s Birds of Prey demonstrations, Culpeper County Public School Mascot race, and Culpeper Sheriff’s Department’s Kid IDs.

Outdoor Fun

Cedar Mountain Battlefield and Brandy Station Battlefield offer several trail options that are great for birding, hiking and walking. Interpretive signs can be found along the way too!

Stop into one of the local farm breweries to enjoy live music throughout the summer months. Old Trade Brewery, Mountain Run Winery, Death Ridge Brewery, and War Craft Brewery are just a few of the family-friendly local farms that offer outdoor playgrounds for the kids and great local live music regularly throughout the season.
