A Brandy Station Foundation Open House/Battle of Brandy Station anniversary event will be held June 8, 2024 on the Civil War-era Graffiti House grounds, 19484 Brandy Road, Brandy Station. Family friendly, Free and Open to the public. Events include Graffiti House Tours, Speakers, Period Music, a Living Living History Encampment by 23rd United States Colored Troops, a Cvil War print raffle, Crow Mercantile (Civil War era sutler), and Bowles food truck.
The Schedule of Events is:
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Tours of the Graffiti House continue throughout the Day
10:00 AM – 4:00 PM Living History Encampment by 23rd United States Colored Troops, part of the 4th Division, 9th Corps that guarded the Orange and Alexandria Railroad.
11:00 AM – Welcome Ceremony
11:15 AM – The Graffiti House – “Witness to History” Craig Jacobs (Salvagewrights Ltd., Orange, VA) will give a tour and talk on the exterior of the Graffiti House
11:30 AM – “Civil War Trailblazers and Trouble Makers” Gene Schmiel The talk will feature some of the trailblazers and trouble makers who were at Brandy Station during the big cavalry engagement on June 9, 1863
12:30 PM – “Cannons During the Civil War” Greg Mertz
1:00 PM – Period Music and Interpretation John Tole
2:00 PM – “The Bureau of Military Information and the Intelligence Campaign in 1863” Keynote speaker Gregory B. Elder, Chief Historian, Defense Intelligence Agency
3:15 PM – “Juneteenth – A Day of Celebration” Rev. Adrian Sledge
3:45 PM – “Battle of Brandy Station” Frank O’Reilly
4:15 PM – Raffle winner of Civil War print announced
