Archaeology Walking Tours

October 20, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pm

$10

In celebration of Archaeology Month, Historic Germanna’s Archaeology team will host special behind-the-scenes walking tours on each Friday morning in October of Germanna’s archaeological dig sites. The dig sites feature the ruins of the “Enchanted Castle” – home of Virginia’s Colonial Lt. Governor, Alexander Spotswood – as well as the potential sites of the 1714 Fort Germanna, which were constructed by the first German immigrants to Virginia, and the original Spotsylvania Courthouse. See and hear about the latest findings including, uncovering the perfect herringbone walkway of the Enchanted Castle.

Join the archaeological team for these exclusive walks each Friday morning in October at 10:00am. Happening next on October 20 and October 27.
Attendees should meet the archaeology team at the Historic Germanna Visitor Center at 10:00AM to follow the archaeologists to the dig site nearby. Guests are requested to dress for the weather and wear close-toed shoes. Event rain or shine unless severe weather.
