SUMMARY:2025 History Alfresco and Culpeper Minutemen Descendant Reunion Dinner
DESCRIPTION:The 2025 Museum History Alfresco Annual Fundraiser and Culpeper Minutemen Descendant Reunion Dinner will be held at Yowell Meadow Park on Saturday\, October 25\, from 5:00pm-9:00pm \nThis is a once in a lifetime event to honor those who gave us the way of life we enjoy today! \n\nEnjoy colonial music by Colonial Faire\nSip wine or beer from Mountain Run Winery and Old House Vineyards\nFeast on our catered buffet by Distinguished Engagements\nOn-site bidding of an assortment of exciting products and\nexperiences in our silent auction\nLearn about the rich history of the Culpeper Minute Battalion\nOur Keynote Speaker will be Virginia Revolutionary War historian Dr. Patrick Hannum.\n\nYowell Meadow Park 250 years ago was Virginia’s largest muster and drill site where the Culpeper Rifle Company and the Culpeper Minute Battalion deployed for the Revolutionary War. They were Virginia’s largest and most consequential military force to aid in the liberation of Virginia from British Royal and Loyalists forces in 1775-76. \nOver 650 Culpeper\, Orange\, and Fauquier County men marched off this field providing Virginia its most indispensable riflemen at the victorious battles of Hampton and Great Bridge in 1775. Those victories\, and the later burning and conquest of Norfolk\, ended British Rule forever in Virginia. As a result\, Virginia became the first state to “Declare Independence” (on May 15\, 1776)\, much to the heroism of the Culpeper Minutemen. \nAt this Special 250th Culpeper Minutemen History Alfresco Dinner\, we are inviting everyone to join us in celebrating the occasion. That night we will especially be recognizing and honoring all descendants of those famed Culpeper Minute Battalion and Green’s Riflemen Company. Countless men who marched from this site in 1775 did not live to see the war’s end including two Culpeper Minutemen Captains\, John Chilton and James Scott. \nBecause this field is so hallowed\, we felt it so important for the 250th remembrance dinner to be held here\, on Virginia’s largest muster and deployment site of the Revolution. \nPLEASE JOIN US! \nIndividual Seats are $100 per person. Or sponsor a private table for 8 at the Benefactor\, Sustainer\, or Host level starting at $1000. \nOrder by October 13th! \nBusiness Casual Attire \nWe request that ladies wear flat shoes due to the uneven grounds. \nFor questions\, please contact Lee Langston-Harrison\, Interim Director\, Museum of Culpeper History at (540) 829-5954.
