DESCRIPTION:Join us for a bird walk on October Big Day at Cedar Mountain Battlefield. October Big Day is a 24-hour global celebration of birds. Cornell Ornithology and the National Audubon Society coordinate this citizen science initiative. The goal is to count as many birds as possible and report them on Cornell’s eBird platform. This year’s October Big Day is scheduled for Saturday\, October 12th. The Old Rag Master Naturalists will be sponsoring a bird walk on October Big Day at Cedar Mountain Battlefield. Registration is open to all.

DESCRIPTION:Join historian\, Greg Mertz\, as he leads a real-time tour of the Battle of Cedar Mountain. Considering the current daylight savings time\, things occurred about an hour later than during the war. The 90-minute program will be held from 6:00-8:30 pm. Starting at the Cedar Mountain Battlefield Information Center located at 9465 General Winder Rd.\, Rapidan\, VA 22733\, the tour will highlight the 1862 clash between Confederate forces under legendary Maj. Gen. Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson and Federal forces under Maj. Gen. Nathaniel Banks.
