The Lord Culpeper Hotel located at 401 South Main Street Culpeper, Virginia is a historic three story brick building featuring Colonial Revival architecture and was established in 1933. Over the year’s guests have experienced strange sounds in the hallways, phantom footsteps, lights flickering mysteriously and fleeting apparitions of a woman. The local folklore tells of a guest at the hotel, a well-dressed woman, that was seen entering the building one evening, only to never be seen again. Some say she was a runaway bride or a woman fleeing from a dangerous situation. Others claim she was the victim of a crime, her life taken in a tragic twist of fate. Her ghost is said to still haunt the hotel causing the mysterious paranormal activities.
