Eppa Rixey - Baseball Hall of Fame
Born and raised in Culpeper, Virginia, Eppa Rixey, played professional baseball for over 21 seasons and was elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame on January 27,1963. A UVA graduate his passion for baseball and education followed him through his collage career then into the big leagues. He played for the Philadelphia Phillies and the Cincinnati Reds. He played 692 games before his big league days came to an end. You can still walk by his childhood home in historic downtown Culpeper, Virginia to capture a small glimpse into what his early life was like.
