April 14, 2025 Updates

CULPEPER, VIRGINIA – The Virginia Association of Destination Marketing Organizations (VADMO) awarded the Town of Culpeper’s Tourism and Economic Development team the Virgo Award for ‘Best Comprehensive Advertising Campaign.’
Each year, the VADMO honors the best and brightest in Virginia’s tourism industry. Whether it is an innovative marketing campaign, a wildly successful destination event, or a top-notch tourism professional, the VIRGO Awards showcase the immense talent and dedication of destination marketing organizations across the Commonwealth. Industry peers located outside of Virginia served as judges for the awards and the submissions were evaluated on the quality of the application, economic efficiency, budget, purpose and objective of the initiative/event and the economic or community impact. Projects, campaigns, and efforts completed between January and December of 2024 were eligible and the winners were announced during a ceremony at the 2025 VADMO Tourism Symposium on April 10 in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
The ‘Best Comprehensive Advertising Campaign’ Virgo Award is given to a destination that has created a comprehensive advertising campaign that is an all-encompassing plan, aligning all marketing activities with the destination’s objectives. It involves a meticulous integration of various elements such as digital marketing, traditional marketing, content marketing, social media marketing, influencer marketing, etc. This award was received as a result of the newly launched Culpeper VA250 brand and program, which is a multiyear effort to commemorate the semiquincentennial of Culpeper, Virginia’s role and stories as they relate to the 250th anniversary of America.
The Culpeper VA 250 Committee, managed by Culpeper Tourism and Town Economic Development department is a coalition of public and private partners collaborating to create initiatives and programs that honor our first 250 plus years and inspire visitors to discover America’s story here in Culpeper, Virginia.
“This award is especially meaningful as we enter the 250th commemoration period of the United States,” stated Paige Read, Director of Culpeper Tourism and Town Economic Development. “Our brand and campaign were designed not just to promote Culpeper as a destination, but to elevate the powerful stories and experiences—past and present—that define who we are,” stated Read. “Winning the Virgo Award for ‘Best Comprehensive Advertising Campaign’ affirms our commitment to honoring Culpeper’s role in America’s journey, while engaging new generations of travelers, learners, and explorers.”
