Pet-Friendly Culpeper
July 5, 2023 Food & Drink Pet Friendly Places to Stay Things to Do
For those that love to travel accompanied by a furry friend, Culpeper offers plenty of entertainment indoors and out.
Home Away from Home
First things first, find a place to rest your head (and tail). There are several pet-friendly lodgings in Culpeper. The Microtel Inn and Suites allows up to two cats and/or dogs, while Hampton Inn and Suites allows service animals. West Park Gardens, a beautiful AirBnB right by downtown is another pet-friendly option and includes a green space to enjoy with your animals. If you have bigger dogs or want to stay somewhere with a bed-and-breakfast feel, within 30 miles are two great choices: the Inn at Meander Plantation or the Inn on Poplar Hill both allow dogs of any size and provide beds, bowls and other amenities for your four-legged friend (but unfortunately, cats are not permitted at these inns).
Pet Paradise
The first stop for any pet lover in Culpeper has to be Reigning Cats & Dogs. This locally-owned shop is stocked end-to-end with whatever you need to pamper your pet or gift to a pet lover. With an emphasis on eco-friendly, sustainable and globally responsible products, Reigning Cats & Dogs stocks everything from leashes and treats to sweaters and toys. The shop also carries pet wellness items like grooming supplies, supplements and basic medical care. You can browse for yourself or a fellow pet lover as well, with a huge selection of stickers, décor items, mugs, clothing and much more to help you proclaim to the world your love for your Airedale, French Bullogg, Maine Coon, mutt, rescue or dozens of other dogs and cats.
Get Outside
With several parks in and surrounding Culpeper, you can go a few minutes in almost any direction and find a greenspace to explore with your furry friend. About 15 minutes away from downtown Culpeper, you’ll find Mountain Run Park, which offers great views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and an abundance of wildlife to watch. The park includes designated areas for kids and picnicking, as well as the Mountain Run Lake, where visitors can fish during specific times of year. Best of all, there’s a dog park where your pup can romp off-leash with new friends. Check the Culpeper Dog Park Facebook page to talk with other dog owners who frequent the area.
Grab a Bite
After you’ve worked up an appetite exploring outdoors, try lunch at Graze to Griddle, serving up some of the most delicious grass fed beef burgers in the area. Select from their hand cut fries or cheese curds for your side dish too.
Quench your Thirst
For dog owners looking to unwind at the end of the day, there’s really only one spot: Beer Hound Brewery. Designated the best dog friendly brewery in Virginia by Bring Fido, all of the beers are named after famous and not so famous hounds in movies, history and favorite 4-legged customers. Well-behaved dogs are welcome both inside and on the outdoor patio and given water, treats and plenty of attention. Stop by often to see what’s new on tap!
