DESCRIPTION:Each year the Museum partners with the local Luck Stone Quarry to provide a public access day to view Culpeper’s famous dinosaur footprints! More than 215 million years ago\, during the Triassic Period\, giant beasts roamed the region that we call home today. Then\, in 1989\, evidence of their existence was discovered at the bottom of the quarry. Discover the largest quantity of dinosaur footprints discovered in North America on this special day. \nVehicle passes are available for hourly timed tours. Each pass provides entry to one vehicle and its occupants. Due to limited space in the parking area\, vehicles must be no larger than a 15 passenger van. Each pass will also provide family admission to the Museum of Culpeper History in downtown Culpeper for FREE. \nPLEASE NOTE: The Museum of Culpeper History offers the DinoWalk program once per year.  The museum is unable to organize group tours outside of the listed program dates. \nTICKETING \n\n\n\n\nDue to high demand\, DinoWalk passes for 2024 will be awarded using a lottery system to ensure that everyone who wants a pass has an equal chance of getting a pass. To enter the event lottery\, fill out and submit the form below between 12:00 AM on Sunday\, July 21 and 11:59 PM on Saturday\, July 27. \nLottery winners will be notified by email on Monday\, July 28. The notification email will include a link to select a tour time and a code to purchase passes. DESCRIPTION:Historic Germanna is once again excited to invite the public to see archaeology in action! On Saturday\, August 3\, 2024\, from 10am to 4pm\, our unique archaeological dig sites in Locust Grove will be open to the public. Get behind the scenes and meet Germanna’s archaeology team to learn more about this summer’s work in the field\, including efforts to unearth the original Spotsylvania Courthouse. This is the last opportunity this year to visit our excavation site\, which is only open a few times a season. \nGermanna’s archaeology site encompasses the ruins of the “Enchanted Castle” – home of Virginia’s Colonial-era Governor\, Alexander Spotswood – as well as the potential sites of the 1714 Fort Germanna that was constructed by the first German immigrants to The New World and the original Spotsylvania Court House. \nAdmission is free\, but due to limited parking at the dig site\, guests will be provided timed access passes on a first come\, first served basis. Guests should check in at the Historic Germanna Visitor Center at 2062 Germanna Highway\, Locust Grove\, 22508. There\, you will receive a timed ticket to access the archaeology site. The last timed ticket will be given at 3:00pm. \nEvent rain or shine unless severe weather. Please dress for outdoor walking including close-toed shoes and it is advised to bring water\, bug repellant\, and sun protection. \nFor more information\, please call 540-423-1700 or email info@germanna.org.

DESCRIPTION:Join us for Veterans Tribute Night at Verdun’s Summer Nights Concert Series with The Leroy Burks Band\, Blake Esse\, and Andrew Washington. We’ve partnered with Hero’s Bridge to bring you an incredible night of music.\nLeroy has opened up for Major Country acts\, including the widely popular\, “The Band Steele”. While in the Army\, Leroy continued performing with local theater groups. In 2006\, he won the USAG Ansbach Military Idol competition. He is a published Nashville Songwriter with over 40 songs written.\nBlake\, best known for his original music\, classic covers and crowd engagement averages 25 shows per month sharing his original music across the globe. Blake’s EP was produced by Clint Black and Dwain Rowe of Restless Heart and Brooks & Dunn. Blake is currently working with Dwain Rowe and crew on their second project together which is set to release on all platforms late 2023. Blake regularly tours and has opened for Clint Black\, Chris Young\, Michael Ray and Dierks Bentley.\nAndrew Washington is a traditional country artist who keeps country country. Blame it on Waylon\, Jones the Hag and King George. DESCRIPTION:Thoughts of Christmas don’t usually present themselves in July….unless you have a Christmas Tree farm. July is when we shear the trees to shape them for sale in December.\nSo please come to our Open Farm day on Saturday\, July 13\, from 1 to 5 pm and we will show you what goes into preparing for Christmas\, even in July. \nWe will demonstrate how to shear the trees\, how we make garland\, and how we make the ornaments and woodenware that we sell during Christmas. Our shiitake mushroom production\, and our weaving loom\, might also interest you\, and the firepit might be of interest if it is not too hot. Our Tree House shop will be open\, and cool\, as well. \nSo please come by for a visit. The farm looks very different in July than what you might have experienced during your Christmas visits.
