DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday\, February 11 at 6:30 PM as the museum continues its lecture series! \nThe Museum is excited to once again collaborate with members of the African American Heritage Alliance. Panelists Angela Chapman\, Charles Jamison\, Jane Pollard\, and Moderator Zann Nelson will address the commitment and activism required and delivered by the Black communities throughout the county to provide an education for Black children. Three locations will be discussed as examples: the Culpeper Training School on the old Fredericksburg Rd.\, the Norman School off US Route 522 West at Norman\, and the George Washington Carver High School on US Route 15. \nThis program will be held at the museum. Space is limited so save your seat today and then pay at the door! Admission is $5 per person but Museum members get in FREE. \nIf you can’t attend the lecture\, you can purchase access to the video recording for $5.

DESCRIPTION:Terrariums are not just gorgeous living decor—they’re a blast to create! Dive into our hands-on workshop and craft your very own personalized terrarium. MacKenzie will guide you through every step – from layering and plant selection to adding those perfect finishing touches for a thriving mini-ecosystem.\nYour registration covers 90 minutes of engaging instruction\, three 2″ terrarium plants\, soil\, rocks\, and a variety of decorative goodies. Note: the terrarium container isn’t included. Choose from our selection of containers and extra plants at a 10% discount during the workshop. Feel free to bring your own container if you prefer!\nArrive 5-10 minutes early to check in\, and we’ll start right on time. Our workshops are held in our new location at 105 E Davis Street.\nKids aged 9 and up are welcome to join\, but space is limited to one guardian per participant under 18.\nPlease note: All registrations are non-refundable. DESCRIPTION:The Carver 4-County Museum will be featuring a new exhibit honoring prolific writer\, John Mercer Langston Hughes\, born February 1\, 1901\, in Joplin\, Missouri. He passed away in New York on May 22\, 1967.\n\nIn 1936\, he wrote the poem\, “Let America Be America Again\,” which is the foundation for our new exhibit\, “Liberty\, Labor and Langston.”\n——-\n\nThe Liberty\, Labor and Langston\, exhibit opens online at www.carver4m.org on February 1\, 2025\, in celebration of Black History Month.  It is curated by Terry Miller.  It will open inside the museum from February 25 through the end of December.
