DESCRIPTION:The Carver 4-County Museum will be featuring a new exhibit honoring prolific writer\, John Mercer Langston Hughes\, born February 1\, 1901\, in Joplin\, Missouri. He passed away in New York on May 22\, 1967.\n\nIn 1936\, he wrote the poem\, “Let America Be America Again\,” which is the foundation for our new exhibit\, “Liberty\, Labor and Langston.”\n——-\n\nThe Liberty\, Labor and Langston\, exhibit opens online at www.carver4m.org on February 1\, 2025\, in celebration of Black History Month.  It is curated by Terry Miller.  It will open inside the museum from February 25 through the end of December. Dr. Mendlow’s art radiates a deep passion for color\, light\, and nuance\, capturing the beauty of both rural Virginia and her own journey. Rooted in her Manhattan upbringing\, where skyscrapers\, museums\, and parks provided early inspiration\, art became her sanctuary amidst the bustling cityscape. After a successful career as a cardiologist in Culpeper\, Mendlow returned to her first love—painting—and began an exploration of how color and light evoke emotion. You can see her work at the Vineyard from now until the end of April.
