Lecture/tour on step-van led by historian Jim Bish beginning and ending at the Graffiti House, 19484 Brandy Road, Brandy Station. Jim Bish shares the remarkable stories behind some of the area’s most significant historic sites, including: George Washington’s early surveying work on Carrico Mills Road, Historic Carolina Road and General Anthony Wayne’s bivouac, Dinosaur track site at Luck Stone, Salubria and the Rev. John Thompson historical marker, Ancient Jasper Site, Great Fork Church of England site and Downman Tomb, Robert Slaughter’s La Grange and Lafayette’s encampment, Madden’s Tavern and the USCT Murders, Kelly’s Ford and its connections to the Field family and the Lewis & Clark Corps of Discovery. and the United States Colored Troops’ crossing of the Rappahannock River. Whether you’re a Civil War enthusiast, local history buff, or simply enjoy discovering Virginia’s hidden stories, this tour offers a unique opportunity to explore one of the Commonwealth’s most historic landscapes. There are two tours: a Morning Tour from 9-11 AM and an Afternoon Tour from 1-3 PM.
