The colors are brilliant and near peak foliage in Culpeper, Virginia. As we head into the season of giving, be sure to give back to yourself: slow down, relax, and enjoy Culpeper as we give you the gift of experiences.
November 1-2 - Cattle Drive Weekend is here once again! Make your way to Andora Farm for a memorable weekend with Tom Seay, TV celebrity host of Best of America by Horseback, and his co-host Kristin Biscoe. You’ll join them in working the farm and driving cattle, and be rewarded with a seat at Tom’s dining room table for a country meal to close out the day. Your horse stall is included with your stay, electric hook-up is free, and there’s a full bathhouse at your disposal. No experience needed for this amazing weekend.
November 1 – Also at Andora Farm is Team Penning Practice, a western equestrian sport that entails teams of three horseback riders attempting to separate three identified yearling cattle from a herd of 30 to pen them in a designated area on the opposite side of the arena. The teams are given 60 to 90 seconds to complete the task. Bring your own horse to practice or participate, or simply watch for free entertainment. Concessions are available.
November 28 – The 2nd Annual Powell Wellness Turkey Trot is a 5K for walkers and runners, and the entry fee supports community fitness scholarships. Bring the kids, too! There’s a Kids’ 100 Meter Fun Run at 9:15 after the 5K. This event is a great way to get in some exercise on the best eating day of the year – Thanksgiving!
November 2 – Dan Miller’s Cowboy Music Review is coming to Culpeper. The western trio will perform a variety of Americana, western, bluegrass, and gospel music at Stage Alive Community Concert Association at 7:30 p.m.
November 9 – Live music and craft beer pair well; grab a pint and a seat at Beer Hound Brewery for a performance by David Gilmore, a multi-genre musician and entertainer who enjoys covers as well as his own originals. Gilmore’s set begins at 7 p.m.; don’t be late!
November 16 – Ted & Company is “the blend of jazz, blues, metal, and funk you didn’t know you needed,” and Teddy will be solo looping the night away “to keep you party animals dancing.” Plan to groove from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. at Davis Street Pier.
November 23 – Vintage rock band, DK’s Wolf, will be rocking Davis Street Pier from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. for all the night owls in Culpeper. A blast from the past, their set list includes favorites like “Born to be Wild,” “867-5309 / Jenny,” “Mony Mony,” and “Sweet Home Alabama.”
November 24 – The Culpeper Downtown Holiday Open House is a time to find some cheer, shop a bit for the upcoming holidays, and enjoy the merriment of the stores. Look for special savings and discounts, admire the storefronts as the shop owners compete for the best presentation, hop aboard the trolley or horse-drawn carriage, and don’t forget to see Santa at the Museum of Culpeper History. The day concludes with the Community Tree Lighting at 5:15 p.m.
November 30 – Small Business Saturday is one of our favorite days in downtown Culpeper. It’s the day we celebrate and shop our independently owned retailers to give them a boost for the holiday season. When you shop small, you’re supporting local families and helping vibrant towns like Culpeper to thrive.
