Holidays are for family and friends enjoying one another with meals, gifts, and time well spent. This year, embrace the unity and open your mind to new family experiences.
Holiday Escapes for the Family
When there are many joined together, hearts are full and homes are warm … and the walls may seem to close in. Take the merriment elsewhere and give yourselves some breathing room.
Make a reservation to let someone else not only do the cooking, but the dreaded dishes, too. We like Piedmont Steakhouse
and Flavor on Main
for special occasions!
Group Wine Tasting
Our wineries are family friendly, but you might reconsider bringing 15 kiddos along. Gather all the wine lovers for a tasting and toast to togetherness at Mountain Run Winery, Old House Winery, or Prince Michel Vineyard and Winery.
Group Beer Tasting
Like the wineries, a few kids here and there is no big deal at our breweries, but to truly make the most of your time, you might swap off with the wine tasting crew for an outing all your own. An outing centered around the suds of the season. Head to Beer Hound, Far Gohn, Old House, or Old Trade for a diverse sampling of beer.
Pics of the whole gang no longer require a photographer or a studio. All you need is a phone with a good camera and timer, and voila! You can’t skip a pic at our Reel Love
sculpture in downtown Culpeper. It has become an iconic structure in every season, and its red is especially radiant during the Christmas season.
There’s nothing like a bit of family team building to either strengthen the bonds or test them. Accept the challenge of breaking out of Puzzle Room Live
, Culpeper’s very own escape room.
How about a holiday cook-off? Let your best chefs (or even the kids!) vie for a colander crown as they compete to see who has the best cookies, cake, or casserole. Head to our favorite farm store – Moving Meadows
- to gather your ingredients.
Once your family’s Dunkin’ Hines has been named, see who might be the next Claude Fauxnet. Make a reservation for a class at Wine and Design
, our favorite creative destination. It’s all in good fun, of course, but Claude Fauxnet has a fun ring to it, dontcha think?
Holiday Escapes from the Family
Alright, let’s be honest. The holidays can be an overload of noise, lights … people. We get it, and that’s why we’re including tips for this reality, too. Either after the holidays or right in the midst of them, make time for yourself (or you and a plus one).
Steal away for something indulgent. Go over the top with a full night away at the luxurious Fountain Hall Bed & Breakfast or treat yourself to something tasty. We love a hot cuppa from 18 Grams Coffee Lab or Cocoa Manna, and one of our favorite date night destinations is dinner and dancing at Grass Rootes in downtown Culpeper.
On whichever side of the coin you find yourself, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
