Culpeper Minutemen in the Park

Step back in time and experience Revolutionary War history brought to life! Join us for living history demonstrations featuring the Seventh Virginia Regiment, the Culpeper Minutemen VASSAR Color Guard, and the Rappahannock Colonial Heritage Society. Meet historical interpreters of George Washington, Patrick Henry, and James Monroe, explore exhibits on blacksmithing, armaments, and Revolutionary War uniforms, and enjoy guided tours of historic sites.

Schedule Includes:

8:00am – 10:00am – Check-in for those who are living descendants of the Culpeper Minutemen to be honored later that day!

9:00am – 4:00pm in Yowell Meadow Park: (Ongoing during the day) Seventh Virginia Regiment Living History, Culpeper Minutemen, and VASSAR Living History Color Guard. Rappahannock Colonial Heritage Society Revolutionary Wargaming with Peter Schweighofer General George Washington, Colonel Patrick Henry, and Colonel James Monroe Germanna in the Revolution Colonial Communication and Historic Writing Devices The Weapons of War – Revolutionary War Blacksmith and Armaments – with Simeon England Culpeper National Cemetery

9:00am – 9:30am – Welcome and Kickoff with Patrick Henry, James Monroe, George Washington and Culpeper Minutemen.

9:30am -12:00am – Culpeper/Fauquier Leaders Short Tour (Edward Stevens, Little Fork Church, John Green Liberty Hall, John Marshall Birthplace ($30 – Registration through Museum of Culpeper History)

10:00am – 10:30am – Meet Patrick Henry – (Patrick Henry Jolly – Descendant of Patrick Henry)

11:00am – 11:30am – Culpeper Surveyor to Commander-in-Chief: George Washington’s First Public Work & Survey – (David Cubbage)

1:00 – 1:30 pm – SAR Culpeper Minutemen Commemoration Wreath Laying Ceremony and Musket Remembrance.

1:30pm – 4:00pm – Culpeper/Orange Leaders Tour – (Hare Forest [Richard Taylor], Bloomsbury [Taylor family], Buford, Hebron Lutheran, Kirtley) ($30 – Registration through Museum of Culpeper History)

1:30pm – 2:30pm Culpeper Minutemen Muster Walking Tour at Yowell Meadow Park – “Clayton’s Old Field.” (Jim Bish) (The largest original Muster, Drill, & Deployment site in Virginia in 1775-76 – Learn about this Hallowed Ground)

2:30pm – 3:00pm – Meet General George Washington

5:00pm – 9:00pm – (Special Event) – Museum of Culpeper History Alfresco & Culpeper Minutemen Descendant Reunion Dinner at Yowell Meadow Park with Keynote Speaker Virginia Revolutionary War historian Dr. Patrick Hannum ($100 – Registration through Museum of Culpeper History)
