Description: The Germanna Foundation welcomes Thomas Helm, a senior staff member to Chancellor Angela Merkel's majority coalition in the Bundestag, the German Parliament. An experienced hand in European politics, Thomas Helm has been a senior staff member to the center right Christian Democrat Union/Christian Social Union group in the German Bundestag. His main responsibilities have included counter-terrorism, immigration, and Muslim integration policies. From 2007 to 2009, he was the official in charge of a special committee to restructure the financial relations between the States and the Federal Government of Germany. Helm can address the financial crisis triggered by Greece, drifting near bankruptcy due to years of government deficit-spending. Many analysts worry that the response to the crisis compounds the danger posed to the Euro as a trusted currency and the European Union itself. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
