Organized by: Wollam Gardens and Like Water For Tulips
Description: Wollam Gardens, an eleven acre cut-flower farm in Virginia's beautiful horse country, is hosting a dahlia extravaganza! In order to share its 10,000 dahlia plants, the farm is inviting its market customers and neighbors to a family-friendly festival during the last two weekends of August: August 21, 22, and 28, 29 from 10 am - 4pm each day. Admission is FREE.

The festival will offer great activities for families! Kids will enjoy hayrides around the farm, feeding the chickens, and creating beautiful crafts.

Guests can cut their own flowers, buy handmade bouquets, and get tours of the property and gardening advice from owner Bob Wollam. Enjoy floral arranging tips from neighboring floral design company and festival co-host Like Water for Tulips.

Delicious food from local baker Karen Wollam will be available for picnics on the beautiful grounds. The festival will also feature an artisan's market with area talents selling jewelry, cards, baby gifts, blown glass, and Wollam Gardens tees. There will even be glass-blowing demonstrations from an area artist.
Begin Date/Time: Tuesday, June 01, 2010 - 7 pm
Location: Brawdus Martin Germanna Visitor Center
Directions: 2062 Germanna Highway
Locust Grove, Virginia
Organized by: Germanna Foundation
Description: The Germanna Foundation welcomes Thomas Helm, a senior staff member to Chancellor Angela Merkel's majority coalition in the Bundestag, the German Parliament. An experienced hand in European politics, Thomas Helm has been a senior staff member to the center right Christian Democrat Union/Christian Social Union group in the German Bundestag. His main responsibilities have included counter-terrorism, immigration, and Muslim integration policies. From 2007 to 2009, he was the official in charge of a special committee to restructure the financial relations between the States and the Federal Government of Germany. Helm can address the financial crisis triggered by Greece, drifting near bankruptcy due to years of government deficit-spending. Many analysts worry that the response to the crisis compounds the danger posed to the Euro as a trusted currency and the European Union itself. The public is invited and refreshments will be served.
