Five Beautiful Places to Pop the Question

There’s someone special in your life and you’ve been thinking about asking a very serious question. You know the one. “Will you marry me?” But where and when will you bare your soul? We propose these five places in Culpeper for your proposal.

Private Serenity

If you’d rather not have an audience or draw attention to your intentions, we suggest a quiet paddle on Lake Pelham. Rent a kayak, canoe, or paddle boat and drift off to a peaceful cove to pop the question. Although you might be nervous and your hands may be clammy, we can’t overemphasize the importance of keeping the ring safe. Don’t. Drop. The. Ring.

After what we’re sure will be a successful outing on the lake, pay a visit to CJ’s Soft Serve for a celebratory ice cream creation.

Breathtaking View

For some, a sweeping view of the Blue Ridge Mountains coupled with a stunning sunset is considered the pinnacle proposal location. You can score that and increase your odds of a “yes” when you take your beloved to the Library of Congress Packard Campus for Audio-Visual Conservation. The campus is situated mostly underground in the side of Culpeper’s highest point, Mount Pony. Head out under the auspice of attending the Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night free movie series. Arrive early to stroll around the reflecting pool at the terrace. It will be an incredible, picture-perfect proposal whether or not you make it to the movie after.

Public Love Session

It’s okay to admit that you like attention or that you love love. We love love. And we happen to have one big, beautiful LOVE just outside our door at The Depot. Romantically red, our LOVEwork is a sculpture that gives a nod to our previous entry. Old film reels are welded together to create “Reel LOVE,” and we’re certain that a proposal in front of it will add a touch of real love to your own love story.

An Adventurous Request

Take your relationship to new heights when you book an aerial tour with Skyline Heli. Buzz along the Blue Ridge Mountains and see how the Rappahannock and Rapidan Rivers meander through the patchwork of the Piedmont. When the time is right, ask that sweet thing if you two can spend the rest of your lives together. There’s no way the answer will be anything other than “yes.”

A Full Circle Location

It only takes one visit to Old House Vineyards to see the possibilities of how your future might play out. The large pond with an island, fireplace lounge area, pavilion … can you see it? The perfect engagement followed by the perfect wedding. We love the idea so much we wrote about it in Destination: “I Do” in Culpeper, VA.

If all goes as planned, you’ll need additional resources. Check out our Weddings section to begin exploring vendors.
